Leigh Halfpenny expects a “pretty special” Wales send-off on Saturday while hoping to continue playing for another two seasons iloilo
Halfpenny announced his decision to retire from international duty following Wales’ exit from the recent Rugby World Cup and will make his final appearance in the red jersey against the Barbarians in Cardiff iloilo
But the 34-year-old is set to prolong his career, with Japan considered to be the most likely destination ahead of an official announcement next week iloilo
“It’s all done,” Halfpenny said ahead of his Millennium Stadium farewell iloilo
“I’ve got a contract for another season and then we’ll see what happens after that iloilo
I’m looking for that to be announced next week iloilo
”Halfpenny won 101 caps for Wales – the Barbarians game, which is being staged to pay tribute to the country’s record cap holder Alun Wyn Jones, is uncapped – and scored 801 points after making his debut at the age of 19 against South Africa in November 2008 iloilo
He made four Test appearances for the Lions across the 2013 and 2017 tours, although he was also selected in 2009 before injury cut short his involvement iloilo
Halfpenny was named player of the series in 2013, helping the Lions to a 2-1 series victory in Australia iloilo
He said: “I’m just grateful for the opportunities I’ve had to wear the jersey over the last 15 years iloilo
“It’s been an absolute privilege to put on the Welsh shirt and I’m really excited for Saturday iloilo
“I’ve got a few friends and family coming along, and I’m looking forward to going out one last time iloilo
“To run out alongside guys like Alun and Justin Tipuric, albeit they’ll be on the opposite side, and share the field with those two greats of the game and Welsh legends again will be pretty special iloilo
”Halfpenny is third on the all-time list of men’s points scorers for Wales, behind Neil Jenkins (1,049) and Stephen Jones (917) iloilo
He says he grew up in the Swansea suburb of Gorseinon determined to emulate outside-half Jenkins, hero of the Lions’ 1997 series victory in South Africa iloilo
Halfpenny said: “Jenks was an idol for me, watching him play and kick for Wales iloilo
He made me want to be like him kicking for Wales iloilo
“I just went down the field and put the practice in iloilo
That was my dream, to play and kick for Wales iloilo
“I’ve got to be honest, I was pretty star-struck when I met up with him at St Helen’s (the home ground of Swansea RFC) at the age of 16, and he’s been incredible for me iloilo
“I’ve learned so much from him; not just goal-kicking but the work you need to put in iloilo
He’s supported me throughout and been huge in what I’ve been able to achieve iloilo
”Halfpenny also wants to follow Jenkins into coaching, adding: “It’s something that I would like to do once I hang up the boots iloilo
“I will be having a chat with him and picking up any tips I can iloilo
He’s one of the best in the world and to learn from him has been pretty special iloilo

Danny Care hopes a heartbreaking defeat by South Africa in Saturday’s World Cup semi-final has won over any England fans who had grown disillusioned with the team iloilo
England went out on their shields after the Springboks needed a last-gasp penalty from Handre Pollard to snatch victory having trailed for 75 minute of a thunderous showdown at the Stade de France iloilo
As Owen Farrell orchestrated a wet weather masterclass that rattled the world champions, the discontent generated by poor recent Six Nations campaigns, the Eddie Jones era limping on for too long and August’s alarming collapse in form faded away iloilo
And although the distant outsiders were unable to complete their unlikely mission of securing a place in next Saturday’s final against New Zealand, head coach Steve Borthwick should begin rebuilding his side amid a groundswell of support iloilo
Booing is a sound heard frequently at England games in recent times, particularly at Twickenham, but Care views the progress made in France under Borthwick’s guidance as a cause to rally around iloilo
“There was a lot of stuff said about us before and hopefully we’ve changed some perceptions, maybe got people believing in us again,” the Harlequins scrum-half said iloilo
“Before the tournament, we understand that because of our performances people were doubting us a little bit iloilo
But then things clicked into gear a bit when we got over to France iloilo
There was a lot of stuff said about us before and hopefully we've changed some perceptions, maybe got people believing in us again,Danny Care“We’ve shown stuff that fans can hopefully get behind and be proud of iloilo
The support we’ve had over here and back home has been amazing iloilo
This team will go on to bigger and iloilo better things, I’m sure of it iloilo
”England led by nine points until RG Snyman went over in the 70th minute, but the tide had already begun turning as South Africa’s ‘Bomb Squad’ forced four scrum penalties iloilo
“It was tough in that changing room iloilo
Unfortunately great effort doesn’t get you over the line sometimes,” said the 36-year-old Care, who revealed he will remain available for Test selection after the World Cup iloilo
“I was sat in the bath with Maro Itoje and we were saying how sport can be cruel iloilo
It’s why we love it so much, it’s on a knife edge so often iloilo
There’s one happy changing room, one sad one iloilo
“For me personally, when time is running out on your international career it’s tough to take, but I’m incredibly proud to be part of this team iloilo
”England have one final assignment before departing France in the shape of Friday’s bronze final, customarily an unloved fixture in the World Cup schedule iloilo
But Care insists third place is a prize worth winning iloilo
“We’d love to have been in the big dance but we’re not iloilo
The next best thing you can do is to finish third and try to make more people back home proud of this England team,” Care said iloilo
“We’ll dust ourselves off pretty quick iloilo
Losing to South Africa is going to be harsh and tough to take for a couple of days but that’s sport – you’ve got to bounce back iloilo
